Guild Information:

As with most things related to TOR, all information is subject to change upon release of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

We are a European Sith role-playing guild for the upcoming MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. What was once a community for Sith RP (The Sith Council), has now turned into a RP guild formed by Darth Derriphan and Darth Mynock, two experienced and enthusiastic Sith role-players. Both have lead guilds, RPed as Sith in as Star Wars Galaxies, and share a love and passion for all aspects of the Dark Side of the Force. A heavy-RP guild, we are looking for quality RPers who are looking for immersive, story-driven gameplay. It is our aim to became known for quality Sith-oriented role-play and become the leading Sith guild on the server we choose to play on at the release of SW:TOR.

Can I start off as Darth [something]?

In the Hands of Darkness, we believe that the Darth title should be EARNED amongst our ranks rather than just having it in your character biography from the start. Therefore, we ask that no applicants use the 'Darth' title in their name. The Darth title can be earned when you become a member. See also The Balance of Power for further explanation.

What kind of rank system do you have?

Promotions can be earned through storytelling and RP scenarios. Higher ranks involve guild management, and will therefore be decided based on both IC and OOC reasons. The following is a guide to ranks (though the decisions ultimately remain with the Shadow Council).

Can my character be working for the Empire and then get initiated?

Yes. You are free to apply with a character who is reasonably powerful in the Force, maybe a self-proclaimed Sith Lord. However, joining the Hands of Darkness will be a new life for your character - a fresh start as it were - and you will start from the beginning and work your way up. See also The Balance of Power for further explanation. In short, we ask that you are aware that you will be an adept upon joining us, and we want to keep your guild rank within reasonable parameters of your character's rank.

Will you PVP?

While we are primarily an RP guild, our members may participate in player vs player activities. The very tenets of the Sith encourage our members to show superiority anyway they can, be this through devious political manipulations or all-out bloodshed.

Language requirements?

IC: We speak primarily in Basic, occasionally using ancient Sith words. OOC: We are mostly English-speaking, but we do not discriminate based on language. We do, however, ask members to respect each other and act maturely.

Can I have a ship when I apply?

Yes. See the Acquiring Starships in Guild Roleplaying section which discusses this in more detail.

What's the policy on multiple characters per account?/Can I have a character of each class?

Yes. All we ask is you make sure the main is the one you use for official guild business and that you don't multi-guild.

Are there restrictions on what race my character can be?

As we don't know what races there are yet, there are no restrictions. However, use common sense when applying. When the game comes out, the only restrictions would be any that Bioware puts in.

Are there age restrictions on applicants?

We would like members to be 18+, but we are willing to review younger applicants on a case-by-case basis. Any applicant under 16 will be viewed as a child and will not be accepted, sorry.

Do you follow a timeline?

All events will be aligned to the TOR timeline. When creating a character to apply with, please be aware of the age of your character. By the time the game is released, you could have an old character. For Force-sensitives and long-lived races, that might not be a concern. However, a 60-year-old bounty hunter might not be what you had in mind.

Sounds good. How do I join?

To join, please visit our guild forum and create a thread with a filled-out application (application form is available at the forum). The thread will be reviewed by the heads of the guild, and you will be informed whether your application was approved or declined.

The Hands of Darkness is a Sith RP guild. We take RPing seriously and as such, have a very stringent application process. We WILL be judging you on your character's biography more than anything else. We look at your writing skills, imagination, and the effort that you have put into the application. The story side of your application MUST be feasible and abide by the canon of the Star Wars universe. Please keep in mind that quality is far more important than quantity.

Hands of Darkness forums

I'm not in Europe. Can I still join?

Yes. However, please be aware that due to time zone issues, non-European applications will go through a stricter evaluation process. This is not to discriminate against non-European players, as we have several in the guild; we are simply looking for a higher level of commitment and maturity due to the fact that you are outside regular guild playing hours.

I'm currently in a guild (or thinking about joining one). Can I be in more than one guild?

Sorry, no. Multi-guilding is not allowed at this time due to the fact that we are looking for committed members. We do not want to place anyone in the situation where they must choose between loyalty to one guild or another.

Are there any class restrictions? Is this a Force-User-only guild?

No. We have positions available for all classes.

Do you guys use any particular chat program(s)?

Currently, guild chat takes place through XFire. We also use Ventrilo, though it is not a required software. Ventrilo may become more involved after game release.
